Speedstream 5660 Software Update Instructions

1. Configure your PC's Ethernet card to “Obtain an ip address automatically”, if it is not already configured as such. You may view the Ethernet configuration instructions by clicking here.

2. Download the Speedstream 5660 Field Update Utility 2.3.0(7). This firmware revision adds ALG (Application Level Gateway) support for the following applications:

   • Microsoft Netmeeting
   • MSN Messenger
   • AOL Instant Messenger
   • Buddy Phone
   • ICQ 2000
   • ICU II
   • mIRC
   • Net 2 Phone
   • CUSeeMe
   • StarCraft
   • Rainbow Six
   • Counterstrike
   • Diablo 2
   • Half-Life
   • Quake 3
   • Soldier of Fortune
   • Battle.net
   • Real Audio
   • Real Video
   • Microsoft Media Player

   IPSEC passthrough has also been added in this revision. If you are experiencing problems related to multiplayer internet gaming and/or VPN connectivity issues, upgrading to 2.3.0(7) is suggested.

3. Locate the utility that you just saved to your hard disk, and double-click the icon. This will lauch the Field Update Utility. A dialogue box will appear. Select 'Yes' to upgrade your Speedstream 5660 Router software.

   

   After selecting 'Yes', the utility will extract a few files to your PC.

   

   Then, the utility will launch an ftp session which will connect to your Speedstream 5660 and update the unit's Software Version.

   

   Do NOT interrupt this process to ensure that the update is successful. This will take approximately one minute. After the update is finished the Speedstream 5660 should reboot itself with the new software image.

4. Proceed to configure your Speedstream 5660 as directed in the 'Installation Guide for the Efficient Networks 5660' located on your documentation CD-ROM if you have not done so already.

   After this update is complete, you may remove the '5660' folder created by this utility from your hard disk.
