Macintosh Configuration Instructions for the Cisco 67x

 

If you are using Routed Configuration - Dynamic Addressing, the start with step 1.  If you are using Routed Configuration - Static Addressing, then skip to step 16.  If you are using Bridged Configuration, then skip to step 31.

  Routed Configuration - Dynamic Addressing:  

  1. Launch your PC's telnet client.  
  1. In the Host Name field of the dialog box, type "telnet 10.0.0.1" and click on "Connect".  
  1. The telnet program will launch, and a window will open.  At the "Password" prompt, simply hit enter.  If you are given another password prompt, then type "cisco" and press enter.  
  1. At the "cbos>" prompt, type "enable".  
  1. At the "Password" prompt, simply press enter.  If you get a "% Invalid Password" message, then type "enable" and press enter.  At the "Password" prompt, type "cisco" and press enter.  You should see a "cbos#" prompt.  
  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:  

set ppp wan0-0 login <login>

Where <login> is your Internet login  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp wan0-0 password <password>

Where <password> is your Internet login  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set web disabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set dhcp server enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set nat enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp restart enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp wan0-0 ipcp 0.0.0.0  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "write" and press enter.  After a few seconds, the router will respon with "NVRAM written."  
  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "reboot" and press enter.  
  1. Close the telnet application by selecting "Exit" from the "Connect" menu.  

Your Cisco 67x router should now be configured and ready for use.  Should you have any more questions or concerns, then please call out Technical Help Desk at 1-888-292-3827.  

Congratulations!  Your Cisco 67x DSL modem is now configured.  Proceed to Step 13 of the Installation guide for the Cisco 67x to complete the setup of you web browser and email client.

  Routed Configuration - Static Addressing:  

  1. Launch your PC's telnet client.  
  1. In the Host Name field of the dialog box, type "telnet 10.0.0.1" and click on "Connect".  
  1. The telnet program will launch, and a window will open.  At the "Password" prompt, simply hit enter.  If you are given another password prompt, then type "cisco" and press enter.  
  1. At the "cbos>" prompt, type "enable".  
  1. At the "Password" prompt, simply press enter.  If you get a "% Invalid Password" message, then type "enable" and press enter.  At the "Password" prompt, type "cisco" and press enter.  You should see a "cbos#" prompt.  
  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set int eth0 address <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>

The <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx> represents your gateway Static IP address as assigned by your ISP.  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set int eth0 netmask <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>

The <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx> represents your Subnet Mask as assigned by your ISP.  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp wan0-0 login <login>

Where <login> is your Internet login  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp wan0-0 password <password>

Where <password> is your Internet password  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set web disabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp restart enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set ppp wan0-0 ipcp clear  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "write" and press enter.  After a few seconds, the router will respon with "NVRAM written."  
  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "reboot" and press enter.  
  1. Close the telnet application by selecting "Exit" from the "Connect" menu.

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set bridging rfc 1483 enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set rfc 1483 enabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, enter the following command:

set web disabled  

  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "write" and press enter.  After a few seconds, the router will respon with "NVRAM written."  
  1. At the "cbos#" prompt, type "reboot" and press enter.  
  1. Close the telnet application by selecting "Exit" from the "Connect" menu.
